Buddy Bee's Window To The Basement

Buddy Bee has had a very difficult time dealing with the attention our coal stove requires.
He stands at the top of our basement stairs, screaming like his life is ruined, when we have to attend to the fire.  He is pretty pathetic really.  So, it was time to make a Buddy Bee his own window to the basement.  In the end the vent was not directly meant for the Buddy Bee but it sure has relieved our little boy's distress when it comes to attending the stove.

We picked an inconspicuous spot behind our couch which, just happened to be right above the stove below.

Grampy and Buddy Bee watching Andrew cut the hole in the carpet to prepare for
cutting the hole in the floor.

Andrew, still in his pj's, cutting the rough hole.

Andrew making the final cuts.

Buddy Bee loved watching Daddy work but it was a rough day for the Bee so, he went between watching Daddy contently and this...

...a face similar to what occurs when we have to attend the fire.

Andrew fitting the vent in the floor.

The hole needed a few areas trimmed for a perfect fit.

Buddy Bee screaming...

contently watching...

screaming again...

again...

 and finally, contently watching!

The finished vent.

Buddy Bee can now see everything we are doing with the stove and he absolutely
 loves watching us from above!
