Gulf of Mexico: Day 5

We are starting a tradition of visiting historic/military exhibits on pre-deployment leave.  Before Andrew’s Afghanistan deployment we visited the Battleship North Carolina. I guess it’s a fitting tradition.  This deployment exhibit was Historic Fort Gaines.  I loved watching Andrew show his son a part of our history.

First, a quick stop at the Dauphin Island public beach.

I love this sight so much.

We bought fresh fish from this shop several times.

We didn't get to visit the sea lab but from the half dozen school buses parked out front it seemed like a neat experience.

Fort Gaines

Welcome to the Park family picture tour of Fort Gaines.

Our first view of the inside of the fort.

Buddy Bee was so brave wanting to go down into the dark, wet, storage area with Daddy.

The chapel was my favorite room.

This chapel was just an amazing room to stand in.

My handsome, adorable boys.

"Freedom is earned.  Thank you VETS."

Tracks on the ceiling to transport ammo.

We had a runaway Buddy Bee on our hands.

Impressive housing for soldiers of Andrew's rank.

Buddy Bee loved the shells that are part of this wall.

A tired Buddy Bee hit hard and fast.

This little boy ended our tour.
It was time for the Park family to head back to the beach house.

Across the road from our beach house was the Mississippi Sound.

Our beach house!

After lunch at the beach house and the Buddy Bee’s nap we were back to the beach.   A beautiful sunset,  dinner of leftovers, and snuggles with my family ended another perfect day with Andrew.

My boys busy making Buddy Bee castles.

Buddy Bee tired of the camera in his face, but happy in his hole.

Just for the Buddy Bee.
(due to the recent hurricane sand was being removed from the beach house fronts and the road..  It was then sifted and relocated.)

Buddy Bee's first trip into the Gulf.

Buddy Bee was not so sure about it at first, but after a few minutes he was squealing with every wave.

Time is slipping away fast, but our little family is making amazing memories to carry us through.
