A 3rd Birthday and a Roof Raising

3 years ago, this beautiful little boy was placed in my arms for the first time. 3 years later, he doesn't stay in Mommy's arms long because this little boy would rather be running wild.....naked, digging in dirt, and driving trucks. We are saving his birthday party until Daddy returns home but for a 3 year old a good old fashion roof raising is the next best thing......friends, family, tractors, tools, and lots of activity at the Park cabin today. Andrew, you need to hurry home because this boy of ours is growing up way too fast!

A birthday surprise all ready for when the birthday boy woke up.

A few birthday goodies for a special little boy.

The roofing crew started to arrive at 7 am.

Just a last look at the old, tired brown roof.  I will not miss it one bit.

A birthday muffin to wake up the birthday boy.

Good morning, birthday boy!

Grampy prepared to move the first load of shingles up to the roof.

While the roof activity begins outside the birthday boy starts on his presents.

Buddy Bee was happy inside playing with Oma so, Mommy snuck back outside to check on the roofing progress.

A great start to the day!

The roofing crew was trying very hard to keep my flower beds clean of shingle debris.

13 people gave up their Saturday to help a deployed soldier and his family.
 BLESSED and THANKFUL!

I spent most of my day running between the birthday bee and the roof raising.  I was so glad Oma came to help with the Buddy Bee.

It was going to be a long day so I was not happy to see a sleepy boy so early in our adventure.

Buddy Bee and Oma joined us outside to watch the progress.

So excited to see the new shingles go on!

Buddy Bee was all ready to have his fire truck filled up with water so he could put out his fires.

I think the birthday boy is loving his new fire truck!

I have never been more excited for a whole in our roof.  YAY to new skylights!

Andrew called on Skype and even made it up on the roof.

Andrew on the roof (via skype) talking to some of the roofing crew.

I want to remember the thumb sucking with blankie fringe forever.

The birthday boy was exhausted after his busy morning.

It was soon time to attempt a nap...mommy was determined for the boy to sleep even with all the noise above.

9 hours later we had a new roof!

The crew putting the final pieces on!!

It was so pretty!

Grampy finishing up the new skylights.

I had stressed about the shingle color for so long it was a relief to see it on and looking great.  The colors looked amazing with the log cabin!

The crew finished up but there was one more request by the birthday boy.

Buddy Bee wanted to take a ride on the big, green tractor.

Buddy Bee had one more surprise coming after dinner. He had been given a used gator power wheels and we had kept it at Grampy's until today!

Taking it for his first spin around the yard!

Our happy birthday boy on his 3rd birthday!

A new roof and a birthday all in one day.  Mommy is sure not going to forget Buddy Bee's 3rd birthday.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Buddy Bee.

  1. It was a very productive and successful day for you, Stacey! Having a party while there are some working up on the roof - this is what I call multi-tasking. Kidding aside, I'm sure that as productive as it is, all of you got tired as well. Anyway, all of you deserve a pat on the back and a good rest! Good job!
